Cyclothon

On Saturday March 12 2016 the TIS campus (Tashkent International School- where we work) became a bicycle track for the 1st TIS Cyclothon. Students, staff and parents pedaled around the circuit to raise money for www.pwsa.co.uk. The event was well attended with over 100 people from the TIS community taking part in some way. Collectively 1,879 kilometers were covered between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. That’s about the same distance as Tashkent to Azerbaijan!

Each rider was sponsored by their friends and families per kilometer that they covered. Some managed to raise enough support to receive 31,000 soum (10 usd) per kilometer, and went on to hit 25 kilometers. In fact two students and a member of staff managed to reach 75 kilometers each for the day!! It was wonderful to see determined young people pushing themselves physically, whilst they were also aware that with every lap, they were having a positive impact on other children who have Prader-Willi Syndrome. The weather was perfect for a bike ride with friends and enjoying the vibes of resident teacher DJs.

The total amount raised was 7 million soum (2,200 usd).

The Cyclothon made it to the PWSA website. Read what they had to say here:
